Bathymetry is the study and mapping of seafloor or waterbody topography. It involves obtaining measurements of the depth of the waterbody and is equivalent to mapping the topography on land
Bathymetric survey or hydrographic survey is the most frequently undertaken service at Total Hydrographic. Our unique equipment allows Total Hydrographic to specialise in data collection within all bodies of water including shallow, narrow areas and in amongst and underneath objects and structures.
Bathymetry data can be captured using both single beam echo sounders (SBES) and multibeam echo sounders (MBES). SBES are best suited to shallower waters (less than 5m) where as MBES is far more efficient and provides full seafloor coverage in deeper waters (greater than 5m)
